With world-famous Balboa Park as its festival site and a mile-long parade route stretching through one of the most gay-friendly neighborhoods in the nation, San Diego LGBTQ+ Pride attracts nearly , locals and visitors to its annual three-day celebration in July. The main gay area of San Diego can be found in the charming Hillcrest district.

Every year in July, Hillcrest is home to San Diego Gay Pride, which is one of the largest and most celebrated gay pride events in the States. The area now hosts the annual San Diego Pride Festival, the city's largest two-day LGBTQ+ event, attracting thousands of visitors each July. Beyond its historical significance, Marston Point boasts breathtaking views of the city skyline, especially from the nearby Cabrillo Bridge.

At the heart of the LGBT community in San Diego stands the Hillcrest Pride Flag at University Ave. and Normal Street. Mostly you’ll see the rainbow flying proud, but if you’re lucky you’ll spot the Transgender Pride Flag, Bi Awareness Flag or one of several others that fly on unique days. Hillcrest is known for its "tolerance and acceptance", its prevalent LGBT community presence, [1] and its diversity of races, nationalities, genders, and social classes.
